"New beginnings" evoke a sense of hope, opportunity, and fresh starts. They often mark the commencement of a journey, a project, a relationship, or a phase in life.
Every year, month, week day, and hour is a good time to revaluate where you are and the road ahead. Because:
“Maybe Tomorrow the lord lets you stay”
Problem: made a career playing on AOR and melodic rock albums. And thus that’s the audience reach I have. But I’m not creating music that’s belongs on a dusty museum shelf, sounding like a stale copy of an 80’s album better forgotten.
I need to find an audience that are curious about music, and willing to support that music. And probably change the people I work with. I need to surround me with a team that works for and believe in my music. This is the now, aiming for the future. Not looking back into old boxes of CD’s dreaming of the past…
The tides are changing in February
The release of ’Amphitrite’ is the first release not to be available on Spotify. This is due to the changes the criminal mind of Daniel Ek has done to the royalty model of the platform. A lot has been wrong with the old model, especially since Spotify them self has used their own “fake artists” to water it down. But the idea of taking money from the small artist and give it to the big (label bound) artist is fundamentally wrong. I’m on both sides of the 1000 limit, with JD Miller way above, and my solo project way below. But it doesn’t matter what side you’re on. It is wrong to steal!
I will focus on platforms that is smaller but doesn’t steal. I prefer if you listen for free on Bandcamp (of course a contribution would be nice) than taking a piss on me using Spotify, and give my money to Taylor Swift.
Apple Music and Amazon will still have my music and be promoted. But I’m afraid it’s just a matter of time before they will follow. Deezer did… maybe the imminent launch of ROKK can shake things up for the better.
My goals for 2024 is to work with people that believe in my music, and to release it to an audience that appreciate it.
Amphitrite
Let’s revisit the allure of the sea again. Last years success with ’Atargatis’ and our love for open oceans leads to much darker waters where Amphitrite, the wife of Poseidon, walks it’s beaches. With a hefty dose of self-confidence.
A self-confidence that you also can hear in Trobro’s playing. There’s a much rawer attitude in the performance, a ’take no prisoners’ vibe. Both in the 5-string baritone guitar lead and rhythm parts. This incredible instrument by UNICORNbass really shows it’s potential here.
Not to forget the bass, Trobro’s main instrument, working as the seabed underneath the waves of the baritone.
But before we can tumble in the seaweeds with Amphitrite, we must survive the alluring ’Dark Waters’. The graveyard of drowning sailors, where the sirens sing. An intro worthy of it’s own song.

My gosch! So fucking great and honest written! Maybe from dark Waters.. Watch up for the big shark, Daniel Ek though! He can steal your music... I pray that the sirens and the dead takes him where he belongs... The old flying dutchman...
